About this Cycle Tour

Connect two of Central Europe’s most treasured cities via a fabulous backcountry route through the historic Czech regions of Bohemia and Moravia. From towering castles and lively old town squares to winding rivers, tranquil meadows and rustic vineyards, this bike tour leaves no stone unturned as we cycle through the lesser known countryside of the southern Czech Republic. We visit four UNESCO World Heritage Sites, wine & dine at local eateries, and spend our nights at cozy hotels.

Meeting in Prague, the adventure begins with a transfer south where we spend two days riding through the Bohemian hinterlands. Along the way we experience areas steeped in history such as the baroque village of Holašovice, the medieval town of Český Krumlov, and the age-old network of fish ponds in Třeboň. Transitioning to Moravia, we'll then enjoy three days of cycling through rolling hills, forests, and vineyards near the Austrian border. We'll discover further architectural pearls such as the photogenic renaissance facade at Telč and the magical Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape. Our adventure is capped off with a private wine tasting in one of the Czech Republic's oldest wine cellars. The tour ends with a transfer to Vienna.

Itinerary

Day 1

We meet at our tour hotel in Prague and head out for a trip briefing and welcome dinner.

Day 2

We transfer to South Bohemia and start cycling from the baroque-era village of Holašovice. Passing through meadows and fields, we reach the picturesque medieval town of Český Krumlov with its towering castle and charming historic center nestled in a meander of the Vltava River.

Day 3

We ride through the southern Bohemian countryside, passing through a network of historic fish ponds leading to the town of Třeboň. In the afternoon, you can partake in an optional tour of one of the oldest Czech breweries. Na zdraví (cheers)!

Day 4

We transition from Bohemia to Moravia, riding on roads and trails through marshlands, forests, farms and rustic villages. Our destination is the historic town Telč with its photogenic market square lined with rows of colorful Renaissance and Baroque style houses.

Day 5

We cycle through rustically rural areas which were once on the edge of the Iron Curtain. Riding on hilly backcountry roads, we pass through forests and stop to admire views over the hilltop castle of Vranov nad Dyjí. We spend the night in the wine rich town of Znojmo.

Day 6

We continue through the Moravian countryside, venturing deeper into a landscape of vineyards and Old World charm. We pass through Mikulov with its prominent castle and end the ride in Valtice where we spend the next two nights at a hotel located in the grounds of the town’s grand château.

Day 7

The tour’s cool-down ride. We make a loop around Valtice, heading for the baroque wonderland of Lednice, with its magnificent castles, serene lakes, and sprawling English-style gardens. In the afternoon we have a Morovian wine tasting followed by a farewell dinner.

Day 8
